A New Name, An Evolved Mission

Today marks a significant milestone in our journey: BookADoc is becoming Nugli Health. The rebrand reflects over a decade of learning and evolution in digital healthcare, from our alpha tests in 2014 through our official launch in 2016, and where we're headed as we transform healthcare delivery across Ghana.

Why Nugli?

Nugli (pronounced "noo-glee") represents our commitment to reimagining healthcare delivery in Ghana. We're building a platform where quality nursing care is accessible and dignified.

Pioneers in Digital On-Demand Healthcare

We've been in the digital on-demand healthcare space since 2014, when we began alpha testing what would become one of Ghana's first platforms for booking healthcare services digitally. When we officially launched in 2016, we were pioneers not just in home healthcare, but in digital on-demand services generally in Ghana.

Back then, on-demand healthcare was still a very new concept in sub-Saharan Africa. We were arguably the first to prove that Ghanaians would trust technology to bring essential services to their doorstep. Long before the COVID-19 pandemic made home healthcare a necessity, we were building the infrastructure, testing the models, and learning the hard lessons.

The reality of digital healthcare in Africa:

Since our launch, many startups have entered this space, attracted by the promise of digital health transformation. But they've quickly faced the reality of the nuances that define digital healthcare in our context. These lessons include, but are not limited to the following: (1) Healthcare regulation is complex and varies by country. (2) Trust in digital platforms takes years, not months, to build. (3) Provider credentialing and quality control can be somewhat challenging. (4) Logistics and last-mile delivery are challenging in African cities. (5) Payment infrastructure must accommodate multiple methods. (6) Cultural attitudes toward home healthcare differ significantly from Western markets. (7) Profitable unit economics are difficult without scale.

We've navigated these challenges not because we're smarter, but because we've been doing it longer.

A decade of lessons learned:

Our journey has taught us invaluable insights that include, but are not limited to the following: (1) What works in Western markets doesn't always translate to Ghana. (2) Trust takes time to build, especially in healthcare. (3) Technology is only as good as the human service behind it. (4) Provider networks need continuous training and support. (5) User experience must be simple enough for everyone, regardless of tech literacy.

These lessons, some painful, all valuable, have shaped every decision we've made in building Nugli Health. What you're seeing now is our most informed iteration.

From BookADoc to Nugli Health: What's Changed?

BookADoc started with a clear mission: solve the frustrations of long, painful waiting times that patients experience in hospitals while providing clinicians a flexible schedule akin to their own private practice. We connected patients with healthcare providers for home visits, offered basic diagnostics, medication delivery, and follow-up care. It worked. We served thousands of patients, built a network of healthcare professionals, and proved that home healthcare could work in Ghana. But we also learned that people wanted more.

Nugli Health brings professional nursing care directly to your home through an easy-to-use mobile app. Whether you need wound care, IV therapy, post-surgical support, or routine health monitoring, our credentialed nurses provide hospital-quality care in the comfort of your home. Our current nursing services include: (1) wound care and dressing changes, (2) IV therapy and injections, (3) catheter care, (4) post-surgical care at home, (5) blood pressure and glucose monitoring, (6) medication administration, and (7) health assessments. Each service is delivered by licensed, background-checked nurses who are trained specifically in home healthcare best practices.

Why Nursing Care?

When BookADoc launched in 2016, the app included booking nurses alongside other healthcare services. That feature became a moment of insight. Nurses represent a large workforce in Ghana, yet they are often unemployed and/or inadequately remunerated. At the same time, nursing care services at home are very highly sought after. Families need wound care, post-surgical support, medication administration, and routine health monitoring, but accessing quality nursing care outside of hospitals has always been difficult.

We decided to simplify the process of connecting nurses to patients. Once again, we are pioneers in this space.

The New Nugli Health App

Our rebrand comes with a completely redesigned mobile app. Browse available nursing services, compare providers, and book with a few taps. Need care now, our instant booking feature connects you with available nurses in your area within minutes. Planning ahead, schedule routine care or follow-up visits at your convenience.

Track your nurse's arrival in real-time, just like ride-sharing apps. All your medical history, nursing notes, and service records are kept in one secure place. Manage healthcare for your entire family (kids, spouse, elderly parents) from one app. Payment is flexible through mobile money, cards, insurance, or corporate accounts. See detailed profiles of nurses including qualifications, experience, and specializations before you book.

Service Coverage

We are currently close beta testing the Nugli app in selected locations with plans to expand to a location near you soon. Quality takes time, and we're committed to ensuring every experience meets our standards before we scale. Rushing expansion at the expense of quality would betray everything we've learned over the past decade. We'd rather grow steadily and deliver excellence than compromise the trust you place in us.

Pricing That Works for Everyone

Nugli Health offers transparent, accessible pricing. Our current pay-per-service nursing care ranges from GHS 80-150 depending on service complexity and distance. We're developing subscription options for frequent users that will offer better value through monthly plans for individuals, families, and seniors focused on chronic disease management.

For companies, we offer corporate wellness programs with volume discounts and employee benefits. For members with compatible insurance coverage, we're working toward cashless, integrated service delivery. For those enrolled in Korame Insurance by Summer Health (korame.com.gh), special rates and benefits apply, making quality nursing care even more accessible.

Why Home Healthcare Matters

Home healthcare goes beyond convenience. It often delivers better health outcomes. Studies show home healthcare can lead to better chronic disease management, fewer hospital readmissions, faster post-surgical recovery, improved medication adherence, and better mental health outcomes. Beyond these clinical benefits, it removes barriers that prevent people from accessing care in the first place. Transportation needs, waiting in crowded hospitals, mobility challenges, exposure to hospital infections, and lost work time for busy professionals all disappear when care comes to you.

By avoiding unnecessary hospital visits and emergency care, home healthcare can reduce overall healthcare costs. Fewer emergency department visits, shorter hospital stays, prevention before crisis, and reduced lost work time all contribute to a more efficient, affordable healthcare system. Perhaps most importantly, healthcare at home is more personal. Patients receive one-on-one attention from providers, longer consultation times, care in a more comfortable environment, family involvement in care, and culturally sensitive and respectful treatment.

Our Standards: Quality You Can Trust

Nugli Health is built on the expertise of our nursing professionals and our unwavering commitment to quality. All nurses in our network are licensed and credentialed, background-checked, trained in home healthcare best practices, rated by patients, and insured and bonded. We maintain rigorous standards across provider credentialing, ongoing training and certification, patient satisfaction monitoring, and clinical outcome tracking.

We commit to response times of under 2 hours for urgent care and on-time arrival for scheduled appointments. Our platform maintains 99.9% app uptime, robust data security and privacy, regular updates, and 24/7 technical support. Every interaction is backed by patient satisfaction guarantees, a clear complaint resolution process, and continuous quality improvement.
